Dallas Chapter Activities

  • Veterans Day Parade and Massing of Colors Ceremony

    The Dallas Chapter has been a major participant in Greater Dallas Veterans Foundation. The overall Chairperson, Event and Ceremony Chairperson's as well as several committee members are chapter members. The Massing Ceremony is conducted on local TV and the flags in the Dallas ceremony are supplied by the Chapter. The Dallas Chapter also lends financial support to Veterans Day Foundation and awards for the top JROTC marching units in the parade. A Rotating plaque is awarded to the outstanding JROTC unit with their School name and year on it. The Dallas Chapter has our National and Chapter Colors carried by a local JROTC Cadet Color Guard dressed in early US Calvary uniforms leading our parade vehicles with outstanding Youth and JROTC leaders from summer conferences.

  • Youth Leadership Conferences

    This year the Chapter interviewed, selected and sponsored 55 high school 10th and 11th grade youth to attend conferences at

    • Texas A & M, Bryan, TX
    • Central Texas College, Killeen, TX
    • Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma City, OK
    • Aircraft Carrier Lexington, Corpus Christi, TX
    • Texas Wesleyn University, Fort Worth, TX
    • University Texas San Antonio, San Antonio

    These youth came from 29 high schools in the Dallas metropolitan area. Our Chapter honored 12 youths chosen as outstanding this past September. As our guest with school principals and administrators. Three of the youth's were number one at their conferences.

  • JROTC and ROTC Program Support
    National JROTC & ROTC Program Award Winner 2005 - 2008
    National JROTC & ROTC Program Award 2009 Runner Up

    The chapter supports some 45 high schools and three university program with awards. This recognition of outstanding cadets at each school with the MOWW Medal of Merit and Certificate are awarded by members of the chapter at school ceremonies in the spring. The Chapter presents the Patrick Henry Bronze awards to outstanding Army and Air Force Cadet members from several summer camp programs. We honored 4 youths with Patrick Henry Awards at luncheons in September with their principals and administrators attending.

  • Scouting

    Our Chapter recognizes and supports the Scouting programs by presenting Eagle Scout awards for the Boy Scouts and Gold Awards for Girl Scouts at formal ceremonies and locations selected by Scouts. Our Chapter members are honored to make these presentations during these award ceremonies.

    • This year our Chapter presented 21 Eagle Scout awards at Troop meetings, church programs, home programs, and events requested by Scouts.
    • This year our Chapter presented 92 Gold Star Girl Scout Certificates in recognition of their accomplishments.
    • Veterans were invited to speak to Scout Troops and teach various merit badge requirements.
    • A Girl Scout Color Guard did the Posting of the Colors at our formal June dinner.

  • Monthly Quest Speakers at Luncheons

    Each month the chapter has a guest speaker or program associated with precepts of our Preamble. This past year we had

    • BG George Schulstad, USAF (Ret), 23 Years Command Pilot
    • Mr. Gil Elan, LTC Israel Defense Forces - "Middle East Update"
    • Tom Leppard, Mayor of Dallas
    • LTC Jim Magellas, 82nd Airborne Division & WWII Most Decorated Officer in Unit
    • Author B. G. Burkett, "Stolon Valor"

  • Additional Chapter Programs

    • Support "Operation Snowball Express IV"
      This is for children and widows of our fellow warriors. Some 1400 family members were met at DFW Airport and spent four days in the Dallas area. Chapter volunteers got families to buses, load luggage and then did the same on their return.
    • Wreaths Across America
      Placing Christmas Wreaths at DFW's National Cemetery
    • Welcome Home A Hero at DFW Airport
      R&R Flights arrive at DFW daily. At least once a month, We joined with other organizations to greet the Troops.
